The nation's top patent court, the US court of appeals for the Federal Circuit, appears to be ready to the examine the validity or all business-methods patents. As you may know, these have been con traversal since their inception 10 years ago.
This review of the first business-method patent, the Bilski case, which involves a patent on a method for hedging risk in the energy market, could possibly eliminate the the entire class of business-methods patents.
I wonder when they're going to get to this? Have you heard anything? What do you think the likelihood of this happening is?

Re: Curbs on Business-Methods Patents
Tue, March 11, 2008 - 4:12 PMHey Paul. I'm currently writing this year's update to West's Federal Administrative Practices, Business Practices: Patents section. I haven't seen anything significant about the Business Methods Patents yet, but I'll be happy to share what I come across when I finally get around to it. If you want to give me the numerical code for the case, I can check it out that much faster. Thanks!
